Female Hormone Level - Keep them up and growing

By Jake Alexandre

We need the hormones our endocrine systems produce to help our bodies work properly to keep us healthy. Hormones act as chemical messengers that control and organize the work our bodies do. The endocrine system works together with the nervous system, liver, stomach, kidneys, and fat. This is in order to help our sexual and reproductive organs to work properly, for us to maintain adequate levels of energy. It also helps our cells to grow and develop normally and hormones aid our appropriate response to stress, our environments, and injury.

Sex hormones exist in both men and women in varying amounts and include DHEA, Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone. In addition, the hormone referred to as Estrogen is actually three different hormones, Estrone, Estradiol and Estriol. Since the role of a woman's body in particular changes with the varying roles she plays over the course of her lifetime, her hormonal balance must change with the changes in her life. A woman's body plays a primary role in procreation her hormone levels need to be in a very carefully choreographed balance throughout her reproductive life.

The female hormones secreted via the ovaries are some of the most defining, decisive and essential hormones of a woman's body. They not only alter your features, physique, and pregnancy they also affect your mood, sleep pattern and weight and fat distribution! For a woman her female hormones are like the elixir of life which can cause disruption in her universe if an intricate balance is disturbed.

Female hormone levels change throughout a month with the changing levels of a woman's menstrual cycle. These hormones stop being produced altogether once a woman reaches the age of menopause. The balance of hormones in your body at any given point is affected by many factors. Stress, body weight, time of day, time of the month, and any medications you take can all cause temporary changes in your hormone levels.

Not only must each hormone remain within the normal range for that hormone, a balanced ratio between these hormones is also necessary in order to reduce the risk of certain types of cancer and other diseases. Along with a balanced production of hormones their proper metabolism and detoxification is also necessary. The sex hormones, estrogen and testosterone, are secreted in short bursts -- pulses -- which vary from hour to hour and even minute to minute. Hormone release varies between night and day and from one stage of the menstrual cycle to another.

The female hormone levels should always maintain a balance with which the bodily systems can function properly and also to escape the threat of certain types of cancers and other conditions which may seem to be natural with advancing age but are a result of hormonal imbalance.

A hormonal imbalance occurs as a reaction to the elevated level of estrogen and lowered level of progesterone within a woman's body. Later in life, the ovaries begin to decrease their production of estrogen and progesterone, causing symptoms of hormone imbalance to develop. Estrogen replacement therapy is a common treatment for hormone imbalance. Frequently, only estrogen is replaced. Some health care providers, especially alternative medicine practitioners, feel it is important to supplement progesterone as well, as the balance between estrogen and progesterone is important.
